JOHANN CHRISTIAN REINHART (1761 Hof – 1847 Rome)

Pan in His Cave Playing the Flute

Pen and brush in shades of brown, heightened with white body color, 692 x 1025 mm
Rock formations and the myth of Pan were favorite motifs of Reinhart.
Pan represents the easiness of a life without belongings, just devoted to basic pleasures.

We are grateful to Dr. F. Carlo Schmid for his confirmation of the authorship.
