Erxleben was a draughtsman, painter and illustrator active in Munich from 1859 until 1867. He depicted motives from the Black Forest for the illustrated journal “Münchner Bilderbogen”. As this vivid study shows, he was inspired by Alexander Calame (1810 – 1864).
