Hildebrandt might have learned to depict the remarkable light- and
shadow effects as a pupil of Eugene Isabey (1804 – 1886) in Paris in
1841. His vita with long journeys all over the world shows an
impressive artist’s career. He was supported by scientists like
Alexander v. Humboldt and by King Frederic William IV of Prussia. As
this drawing can be dated to after 1853, it might be a motive from
his last voyage to the North Cape which he undertook in 1856. |
