Agome Palime in the South-East of Togo
Oil on canvas, laid down on cardboard, 318 x 586 mm, inscribed and
signed at the lower right corner: »Aegome Palime – F. Lindner –
15.4.89.«. On the verso an old inscription: »Lager von ...« (camp of
….) followed by a word written in Arab.
The oils ketch was painted in Togo in 1889. Lindner, a marine
painter, had followed German Sea forces to this part of Africa, at
that time a German colony. |
