FERDINAND LINDNER
(1847 Dresden – 1906 Berlin)

Agome Palime in the South-East of Togo

Oil on canvas, laid down on cardboard, 318 x 586 mm, inscribed and signed at the lower right corner: »Aegome Palime – F. Lindner – 15.4.89.«. On the verso an old inscription: »Lager von ...« (camp of ….) followed by a word written in Arab.

The oils ketch was painted in Togo in 1889. Lindner, a marine painter, had followed German Sea forces to this part of Africa, at that time a German colony.
