ERNST FERDINAND OEHME (attributed)
(1797 Dresden 1855)

Waterfall

Pen and brown ink, black chalk, 478 x 374 mm, on velum with watermark. Coat of arms surrounded by leaves.

It took some time, until Oehme, a pupil both of Johan Christian Dahl and Caspar David Friedrich, had found his subjectthe northern landscape. Maybe the waterfall depicted on our drawing can be located in Bohemia. Oehme often visited this area in the south of Saxony.
